Layoffs Hot Keyword for Second Half of January 2009
Last month we Launched Los Angeles Tech and in the announcement we provide the Hot List for the first half of January 2009. This hot list is based on various social signals of what people are writing about, reading, bookmarking, searching, etc. You can go to the Hot List post to see what was hot then. Unfortunately, I think the announced layoffs are only the tip of the iceberg. In most cases we are seeing that only the public folks are announcing layoffs, and only if they're big enough to trigger an announcement. There have been a lot of private companies who are people are letting a few people go here and there and not saying anything. On the other hand, more people are using our services (database/news/etc.) to find out which companies ARE still doing okay/hiring/etc.
